Treating Acne At Home

Acne light therapy is a safe, completely natural method of treatment that you can do on your own, in the privacy of your own home. Simply set up blue and red lamps and 'bathe' in the light just as you would in a tanning booth. You can use both colored lamps at the same time and it only requires 15 minutes each day.

Just about everyone has acne at one time or another. This common skin problem has left many individuals looking for an effective acne treatment that can be used by a wide variety of people. Pimples are not selective; they tend to appear on anyone and everywhere. This prompts many researchers to work towards finding the ideal acne treatment.

Contrary to the popular opinion, acne is not caused by sugar or greasy foods. Although they dont directly cause acne, they are overall not healthy for the body and can reduce the bodys ability to build a strong immune system so you should consume in moderation. But cutting them out of your diet wont make your acne magically disappear.

Since many people think that the only people who are constantly plagued by acne are teenagers, the thought of acne has been closely coupled with adolescence. When a professional businessman or woman enters a room and is suffering from acne, he or she is looked upon as unprofessional, and all those traits that are normally associated with adolescence.

Minocycline is derived of tetracycline, very often used for acne treatment. Children age must not take this medication as it will reduce the development of teeth and bones. As with the doxycycline, minocycline can effectively decrease the potency of the bacteria thriving in the skin pores. Along with acne, it is also noted to efficiently provide treatment for other bacterial skin infections.

Retinoic Acid may be used alone or in combination with a benzoyl peroxide preparation. Retinoic acid is derived from vitamin A, which is an important nutrient in the maintenance of healthy skin. Vitamin A reduces the blockage of oil glands and is therefore very useful in the treatment of whiteheads and blackheads. It can cause itchiness and redness, especially if the skin is exposed to strong amounts of sunlight. As with benzoyl peroxide, retinoic acid needs to be used for an extended period of time (at least six months) and it may be several weeks before any initial improvement is noticed.
